About Us
History
Techneome, LLC was founded in March, 2007 by Leighland Feinman, Jon Napolitano, and Elizabeth Fong with the goal of allowing clients to mitigate the risk of investing in biotechnology through reliable, affordable and efficient access to scientific guidance.
Philosophy
Caltech's Honor Code states, "Take no unfair advantage." The benefit of this straightforward guideline is that it allows greater flexibility and clarity of choice than a complex set of ethical statements, without compromising integrity. This is important both for establishing a reputation for integrity and working in a direction that benefits all.
While a simple guideline, those four words produce a philosophy of trust and collaboration within the Techneome corporate community and the extended community of clients, evaluated companies, and consumers.
Our values imply a mission to level the playing field so that investors and consumers do not feel like they are being taken advantage of by the biotechnology industry. All in all, we aim to be a friendly, unbiased, and reliable source of guidance in biotech.
We are idealists, and we know it. But we believe that today's business world contains shining examples of how far a company can get with intelligence, diligence, and idealism, and we are inspired by those examples.
Management Team
Leighland Feinman Chief Executive Officer
Leighland, co-founder and CEO of Techneome, provided the original impetus behind the company's formation. His previous projects include several years of genomics and biotechnology research at Cornell Weill Medical College that began when he was in high school and continued into college, work in a Drosophila neuroscience laboratory, and involvement in Caltech's student government and newspaper. In addition to continuing his student government and journalistic pursuits, Leighland has also been working in a human and primate neuroscience laboratory at the California Institute of Technology, and is working with the non-profit BIO Ventures for Global Health to increase awareness of neglected tropical diseases. Leighland is majoring in both biology and history at the California Institute of Technology and will graduate in June 2008 with a Bachelor of Science degree.
Jon Napolitano Chief Operating Officer
Currently majoring in computer science at the California Institute of Technology, Jon has three years of experience as a strategic planning team member for Town Sports International, and more recently has worked in marketing for Power and Energy, Inc. From this work in the fitness and alternative energy industries he's gained significant skill in data mining, analysis of established practices, and effective translation of technical jargon, as well as a strong understanding of the industries themselves, providing a unique perspective on the field of biotechnology.
Elizabeth Fong Chief Information Officer
Elizabeth has over four years of experience in information technology management, including work as a systems administrator for College Preparatory Mathematics and as a technical operations manager for Three Rings Design. She has extensive hands-on knowledge of cryptography, access control, and secure infrastructure design. She is currently majoring in computer science at the California Institute of Technology. Her primary area of research is in the development of plant stomata.
Scientists
Techneome's scientists hold doctorates in their fields and have published work in peer-reviewed journals. We do not provide the names of our scientists online to ensure objectivity; we believe it is important to keep the scientific adviser completely separated from potential investment targets.
Team Leaders
Techneome's team leaders engage in journalism, research, and editing of the final scientist's report.
